Guided tours in Liverpool and further afield
My fascination with Liverpool’s history involves me leading guided tours of the city for groups (including cruise liner passengers) and individuals both on foot and aboard coaches.
Most of my walking tours start at the Pier Head, by the Beatles statues, as seen, left, with international students from the Royal College of Defence Studies, who I was privileged to guide recently.
Alternatively, we can gather elsewhere on the waterfront, such as outside the Royal Liver Building (none of the RCDS students got my memo asking for a McCartney-style thumbs up), below right.
As the city centre is relatively small the majority of tours can be accommodated within two to three hours. Royal College of Defence Studies’ international students around the city, seen outside
The subjects include a general introduction to the city, how it became Second City of the British Empire, the city’s architecture, links with the American Civil War and the US, maritime, music, and religion.
Bespoke tours can also be organised in advance.
I can also branch out to lead exploration of the historic city of Chester and the model village of Port Sunlight.
